Trials

According to Dr. Charles Stanley, trials will continue as long as it takes to accomplish God’s purpose. We can remember Joseph who suffered many years before he emerged in Egypt, serving God and the people. God seeks to conform us to the likeness of Jesus. Dear Father, please assist me in surrendering my will to yours.

" …God is faithful, and he will not let you be tested beyond your strength… "
(I Corinthians 10:13 NRSV)

Sun Kisses

Come, let us walk to the edge of the shore and watch the sunset. The sounds grow quieter; the wind and waves seem to soften. The sand is cool under our bare feet as we move easily, holding hands. It’s sinking. In the hush, all eyes watch as the sun kisses the ocean. Good night. All is at peace. For a moment, we silently reflect on God’s lovely creation, and marvel.

"Righteousness and peace will kiss each other." (Psalm 85:10 NRSV)

Dazzling

White Azalea Blossoms

Dazzling thoughts dance in my mind as I turn the corner and see the bank of white azaleas. God’s gift of sight, illuminated by His light, may be sharpened to see beyond the natural world into the reality of the spiritual world where God lives. My spirit longs to live in that harmony and beauty where love is complete. Touching the fragile petals, I cannot resist breaking a twig with three blossoms to carry home with me. They are silent reminders of the transience of life and the everlasting love of God.

I Corinthians 2:9 - What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him.

Enjoy!

Children

Loving grandchildren comes close to being perfect love.

The brightness of their eyes, that insatiable curiosity, the exuberant joy of the moment—all these and more weave unbreakable threads of love around our hearts. And we? We respond to them with delight in their childish expressions (cupid becomes Q-tip); we seek to answer the unknowable.

And, in spite of aching joints, we dance a step or three with them, sharing their glee of the moment. That is how God wants us to love Him.

"Jesus said, except you become as little children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven." Paraphrased. - Matthew 18:3

Clouds

Part of the canvas of the master artist God uses clouds, the sky and the sun to capture our imaginations, if only for a few seconds. Because He desires our attention, He gives us, in infinite variety, beautiful scenes every day. Give us eyes to see, O Lord. We give you praise for the works of your hands.

Psalm 102:25 - Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.  Romans 1:20 - For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

To behold His majesty!
